I haven’t really been here in a while. I haven’t been taking care of this place. Defintely not.

So should I just let it go or start the cleaning for Christmas?  It’s not like it has any real purpose other than to have somewhere to deposit my verbal diarrhoea.

I’m not sure, I kind of like the idea of blogging, I can never just blog tho…

So I work in retail.

Some days it really astounds me what people expect from a total stranger.

I work in the kids dept. I get all kinds of requests. But the strangest one happened today.

Woman walks up to me holding hands with a young child. The little girl was around 5 years old. The woman then proceeded to  thrust their joined hands (I am assuming it was her daughter)  at me and bark, ‘Can you take her to the toilet?’

Yes, this woman, walked up to a total stranger in a bookshop and asked them to take her child to the toilet. Regardless whether I had a uniform on that identified me as a member of staff, I’m still a stranger. Who she wanted to take her child to the toilet.

Am I the only one who thinks this is beyond the pale?

Is it usual to trust you child to stranger and then give them unrestricted access to them in the worst possible way? Was I out of order to refus?

I said in a completely stunned voice, ‘No, I am not taking your daughter to the toilet.’

She looked at me like I was a frickin’ idiot.

I then had to qualify that with, ‘I’m sorry, but you are asking me, a stranger, to take your little girl to the toilet?’ And she was still looking at me like I was throwing poo at her or something.

In the end, I told her I was extremely uncomfortable doing what she asked and politely reminded her that the kids dept is not a creche and I was not a trained as a childcare professional and that I had not been screened by the police like anyone who works with kids for a living has to. I work in a bookshop.

Seriously. Does no one remeber Jamie Bulger…or Madeline McCann?

Clocks go back tonight.

Usually a cause for celebration but it doesn’t make any difference to me this year as I am day off tomorrow. Pah! Still, I can stay up later reading tonight and I might have a chance of waking up at a semi-reasonable hour tomorrow.

Today was a great day. A great weather day.

It was dark and raining and really, really windy. I love those kind of mornings. It feels wild and mysterious and I feel as almost anything can happen.

It also reminds me that it really is Autumn. My favourite season.

I know, I know, I’m weird. I’m not a sun person, I’m a wind person. I love it when it’s really blowing and your hair is whipping round your head in a mini-vortex and the air is biting but not really cold. It invigorates and excites me.

Yay for Autumn.

I got this in my email today. Usually I just delete these things cause I can’t be arsed but this made me laugh. And I did forward it on to some peeps.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

I have come to the conclusion that I am just a lazy bitch.

Even though I failed in my Sloth quest I am still a lazy bitch.

I am sitting at my computer and I am FREEZING cause the window is open and it feels like 40 below freakin’ zero and I just can’t be bothered to close it. I mean, my fingers are turning blue it’s so cold. Lazy Bitch.

I made up a new blog for all my bookish ramblings and I have a gutful to talk about and I’m here rambling about being…you guessed it. A lazy bitch. Cause it’s easy and takes no real effort.

It might also have to do with the fact that I got about 3 hrs sleep last night. I had to stay up to finish a book.

I’m making my way around all Romancelandia and reading blogs and I am thinking of comments and then not posting them…why? It would mean typing coherently. Lazy bitch.

You know what, I would get it put on my gravestone but I really can’t be bothered. Lazy Bitch.

Book Pron

It’s where all my book-related ramblings are going to be from now on.

It’s still under construction but come over and say Hello!

I am finding being a lazy bum quite difficult.Yesterday after finishing ‘Minx’ I finally settled on Linda Howard’s ‘Mr. Perfect.’ That decision took me about an hour. I got to about chapter nine but then I had to put it down. By this time it was about 5pm. I just couldn’t read anymore.

So much for my  lifelong dream of winning the lottery, going to the bookstore (and Amazon), buying every book I can get my hands on and living in luxury, reading for the rest of my life. I couldn’t even manage 48 hours.

So in keeping with my slothful goals for the day, I rolled over, sat on the edge of my bed and surfed the net for the next few hours. I even started a new blog over on Blogger. My brilliant idea was to do a books only blog over there. Original, huh? I’m a sheep but they have so many cool widgets. Not like the stuffy old folk over here at wordpress.

So although I was whiling away my time doing something frivolous, I wasn’t reading. Pah!

Still I have all day today to finished Mr Perfect and The Lost Duke Of Wyndham and Virgin River. Three books in one day? I doubt it’s gonna happen, especially since I have decided to get off my lazy ass and do some laundry and go food shopping. Maybe even buy a new bra today.

Enforced inactivity just isn’t my thing I suppose. Still at least I had one day of it.

Ok, so there were some kinks in my plan. Although I thought of food and loo breaks, I didn’t quite think of everything. While it’s fun to laze about reading, it’s not so much fun if you smell like day old socks.

I had to get out of bed to have a shower. I have put on clothes. Getting back into pajamas after a shower seemed a little more decedant than I am prepared to be.

BUT…I did go back to my room, lie down and finish Minx. Which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I did a bit of surfing and I am now going back to start on a little category romance. I need a break from the Dukes and Barons for a while. I really need a new paranormal to get my teeth into but there just don’t seem to be any great new ones around….

Any suggestions?

PS I am soo glad my cover of Minx looked like above and not this montrosity. Although I like that Rufus got a shout-out too! Heh!.
